THINK PINK: Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and we are all being urged to Think Pink. In support of Breast Cancer Awareness, MODA model and Miss Liquid Heat 2007, Akasha Divisadero, will be hosting several events at her BCA Garden of Hope. Check here for further details on a fashion show and charity auction that is being planned for the weekend of 28th Oct.

Think Pink is not just for October, as Akasha patiently informed me, it is "a state of mind" - for us to always remember to do our self-examinations and our yearly mammograms.

Every October, Akasha puts up pink ribbons in her hometown to raise awareness. Last year, as she decorated her town, she heard a little child ask his dad about the ribbons and the father replied that it was to "stop Mum getting breast cancer". For Aksaha, thats one incident made her work all the more worthwhile, here she was raising awareness in a young child.

Chayanna Thatcher of Eclectic Eclipse has very kindly donated a gorgeous pink gown for Think Pink. The gown, called Reckless Pink, is modeled here by Akasha Divisadero and is available free from the BCA Garden of Hope. Tip: it's on the left side to the tea house entrance.

MODA MODEL WINS MISS LIQUID HEAT 2007

Akasha Divisadero, MODA Model, was awarded the hotly contested title of Miss Liquid Heat 2007, yesterday. Of the 100 or so applicants, Liquid Heat- a fantasy island - chose 10 for the second round. This number was halved for the final round, where the contestants were judged on their choice of evening gown and answers to 4 questions. In keeping with the fantasy theme, Akasha’s evening gown was Gothika by Innovations. Her hair was the same-named Akasha from Sinsation. Apparently, just a coincidence!

In addition to being a model, Akasha is fully dedicated to increasing breast cancer awareness within SL. She is currently showcasing the landscapes of Artisitic Fimicoloud, a breast cancer survivor at a garden she created for that purpose - BCA Garden of Hope, Peace & Love. Akasha has also founded a group called the Pink Winged Warriors for those “who have been touched by this disease and those who wish to advocate”.

As Miss Liquid Heat 2007, Akasha wins cash prizes worth 10,000L , a professional photo shoot, hair from Calla, a set of designer clothing, a set of jewelery and a custom designed tiara compliments of iZa Boutique. She will also be featured in Liquid Heat's advertisement in Second Style Magazine. Congratulations Akasha!
