How to Get a Skin Named After You.....

Actually this post is about how I inadvertently got a skin named after me.

Unless you have been living under a rock, you will have heard that the talented Rosemary Galbraith has released new skins at ROSEMAR. Last weekend, I decided to go and have a look for myself. I am always thrilled when new dark skin tones are released.

After several unsuccessful landings at Popfuzz, I eventually found the store and my little heart leapt with joy at the amount of makeup on offer for the darker tones. Overwhelmed by this choice, it took me ages to finally decided on ROSEMAR Creampuff Skin - Espresso - makeup 019. I put it on right there in the store, panned to see how I looked and well...as one friend kindly described it I looked like I "got eye bag or something O,o".

I rushed home, adjusted my eyes...wider....smaller, put on another facelight, stood under my photolights, cleared cache, re-logged....and still the same problem. Fortunately, whilst shopping I had picked up the freebie ROSEMAR skins, so I tried the freebie espresso tone. It was perfect. No distortion! So I took a couple of pictures, wrote a polite notecard and dropped it on Rosemary.

Rosemary replied immediately, turns out this distortion is observed on some eye settings. She offered a replacement or a special fix. I choose the latter. After a few minutes, she dropped the fixed version on me. I loved it. Rosemary asked it she could name the fix after me. I said I would be honored! So now when you buy Espresso makeup #19, there is a "Pearl" version included in the box. Also included with all ROSEMAR skins are 4 brow options and three eyelashes sets.

So what did I learn from this encounter? Firstly, try the demos. I didn't do that, but Rosemary was kind enough not to point out the obvious. Secondly, if you find something amiss, politely and concisely inform the designer. Preferably in a notecard. That way you will ensure your message is not lost if the designer's messages are capped. Finally, be nice. Although this is important to you and I am sure most designers want to know if you notice something wrong....you are probably not the first to tell them about it....and who knows, if you are really nice you may get a fix named after you.
